ORTWS 2017 Annual Meeting Registration NOW OPEN!

Join us for the 2017 Annual Meeting: Conservation Collaboration across Multiple Scales at the Pendleton Convention Center February 8-10.

Get your Early Registration in! (closes January 18)

This is looking like a fantastic meeting. We always have pretty good meetings, but having had a sneak peek at the abstracts submitted I’m telling you all – this will be a fantastic meeting! Check out the draft schedule here.

For those that have others at your office pay for registration, it’s easiest to register yourself, then forward the invoice to your admin to pay online via paypal, by mail-in check, or by contacting our treasurer (me!). If you are an ORTWS member please log in with your email address to register! If you don’t know your password just reset it, and please use the same email where you get all of our ORTWS news.

For non-ORTWS members, join first and then register to get some great cost savings. This gets you the Member Rate, which is substantially lower than the non-member rate.

SAVE THE DATE! We are coming to Pendleton!

ORTWS 2017 Annual Meeting is making a long over-due trip to PENDLETON, OREGON!

Get your research ready and save the date! February 7-10, 2017. Note that Feb 7 is a Tuesday, and for most of us will be a “travel” day. Tentative start date of conference is Wednesday per our usual schedule.

If you have awesome ideas for symposia, field trips, or workshops that will suite our Pendleton location please bring them forward to our Annual Meeting planning committee.

Other things to start thinking about:

  • Donate a raffle item to support ORTWS grants!
  • Got some interesting research or field work going on? Make it a poster or presentation and help your fellow wildlifers learn techniques and ideas.
  • Elections! ORTWS is seeking a new treasurer to take over for Smaug – uh… we mean Vee. Get some budget experience to bolster that project management portfolio! Ability to use spreadsheets, the internet and email, learn Quicken, and lick stamps needed.

It’s Almost Time!

Hello Wildlifers!

Our 2016 Annual Meeting is almost here! Are you prepared to mark your territory in Seaside?

Online registration is closed, but you can still show up as a walk-in! If you’d like to make your check-in even faster, contact to settle any outstanding payments.

Cast your vote Wednesday for new board positions. You can review the candidates here. If you can’t attend Wednesday, download a ballot and send to by Wednesday at noon.

Bring your amazing pictures and enter to win fabulous prizes! Photos should be mounted on a firm backing – and bring a digital version for display on the ORTWS website or in future programs! If you don’t have time to print, bring the digital version along and for a printing fee we’ll take care of the rest.

Support our grants program and donate an item for the raffle or silent auction! Donations are tax deductible.

If you are going to the Beach Clean Up or Salamander Hunt, be prepared for the weather! There is a chance of rain, and for Salamanders foot gear that can get into streams might be a good idea (but aren’t required)-rubber boots, hip waders, etc.

WORKSHOP – Persuasive Speaking

Ever give a presentation or answer questions about your work and wish those listening could just “get it?” Join us with Michael Fraidenburg to learn the barriers that prevent logical data from convincing an audience, and ways to get through those barriers. There are still 5 spots open in our Communications workshop! Contact Vanessa Blackstone ( to reserve your seat.
