Lead and Wildlife – impacts to condors

Hunting season is open, and there are some things every hunter should know about lead ammunition. Please opt for copper ammo, and help your family and wildlife stay healthy!

This video released by USFWS explains how lead in the environment impacts California condors, and what happens to the birds that become sick from ingesting too much lead:

California condors are not yet in Oregon, but there are plans by the Yurok Tribe and USFWS to release the birds in Northern California in 2016. Given the large territories of these massive birds, it may not be long at all before they are back in Oregon.
